An Open Letter to Our Clients and Our Community

The recent outcry over the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks and countless other Black men and women has brought our nation to a true moment of reckoning that cannot be ignored. As an organization that grounds itself in integrity and mutual respect, we cannot stand for violence or injustice towards any individual regardless of race, religion, or gender.

First and foremost, we acknowledge the pain, outrage, and sadness that many Black and other American people of color are feeling at this time, and throughout our country’s history. We also acknowledge that white Americans need to be aware of their place of privilege and take responsibility for the impact that it has on our present. We believe that it is only through understanding and partnership that we can achieve equal and fair treatment for all.

We recognize that words without actions are empty and have taken some time to reflect on how we ourselves can change. Over the past few weeks, we have been reading, listening, and discussing what improvements we want to make. Collectively we have begun formulating immediate and long-term diversity and inclusion initiatives which we are sharing with you today.

Our first step was to form a Diversity and Inclusion Committee which has outlined the following actions that we are committed to taking. The committee has organized a month-long fundraising effort aimed at encouraging all employees to donate to Color of Change, Campaign Zero, or Equal Justice Initiative. The firm has made a commitment to match all employee donations.

In addition to making a monetary contribution, we want our firm to be a part of positive social change. Simon Quick Advisors is committed to creating a more diverse and educated workforce through:

  • Senior leadership accountability
  • Firmwide training and education
  • Hiring initiatives around diversity and inclusion
  • Community service and engagement

We would like to continue the conversation with our clients and business partners and welcome your thoughts and suggestions. As a business we have an incredible opportunity ahead of us to build a diverse workforce that includes a variety of perspectives which we believe will ultimately make us better at serving our clients’ needs. We are excited to be a part of the transformation that leads to a more just and equitable society.
