Simon Quick Announces New Partners and Head of People

We are pleased to announce that Tom Morr, CFP®, CAIA and Wayne Yi, CFA, have been promoted to Partner effective as of January 2023. These promotions mark the first time since 2013 that an employee of the firm has been named Partner (3 strategic hires have joined Simon Quick as Partners since that time).
Tom Morr joined the firm in 2012, becoming the Head of Client Advisory in 2018. Mr. Morr currently serves as a Client Advisor and is responsible for managing the Client Advisor team. Under his leadership, the department has flourished to 35 people, allowing us to continue to provide an outstanding experience for our clients. Tom’s drive for excellence has put him at the forefront of key strategic initiatives that have impacted the firm’s growth and his enthusiasm for leadership has helped to develop even more leaders at the firm.
Mr. Yi joined Simon Quick in 2017 as Head of Investments and has over two decades of industry experience. Alongside his promotion to Partner, Wayne has also been named the firm’s Chief Investment Officer. We view this as a seamless transition and expansion of duties as the firm continues to grow. Chris Moore will remain involved in the investment process as Chair of the Investment Committee. This change represents an important evolution for our firm; allowing Mr. Yi to have greater oversight of the Investments team and to drive the firm’s investment philosophy, while enabling Mr. Moore to focus more of his efforts on the overall strategic planning and direction of the firm.
We would also like to announce that Jenna Morr, CFA, has stepped into a newly created position, Head of People. Given our growth in head count, we felt that it was time to provide additional resources to this area of the organization. Ms. Morr joined the firm as an Analyst on the Investments team in 2013, rising to Director during her tenure on the team. Over the past 10 years, Jenna has been instrumental in helping influence and shape the company’s employee experience as Chair of the Employee Experience Committee. Jenna has a passion for all things ‘people’ and is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Human Capital Management at Columbia University.
In her new role, she will be focused on the firm’s human capital strategy, including professional development, talent management, recruitment, and retention. Jenna will work in tandem with Lynese Rawlins, Vice President of Human Resources to continue to elevate the employee experience at our firm. Ms. Morr will transition into this new role over the course of 2023 to ensure that her investment responsibilities are covered by other team members.
Tom, Wayne, and Jenna all sit on the firm’s Operating Committee with other leaders at the firm. The committee is tasked with running a more efficient and scalable business through leadership and key strategic initiatives. Their contributions to the Operating Committee have been essential to our firm’s ability to grow as considerably as we have in recent years.
These promotions represent an exciting juncture for our team. The firm was launched in 2004 with 4 employees huddled around Les Quick’s dining room table. Today our organization has thrived to 75 employees serving $5.5B of assets under management (as of 9/30/2022) and over 600 clients (as of 12/31/2022). As we continue to grow our practice responsibly, we create efficiencies from which we can service our clients better, enhancing our value to them overall.
