What's New: Winter 2020

When I sat down to write our last edition of What's New at Simon Quick? the world was just beginning to come to grips with the COVID-19 pandemic, which continues to impact all of our lives. Since then we've witnessed nationwide protests and a U.S. presidential election like none other. Despite all of this, there is still a lot to be thankful for in 2020 - whether it's spending more time with family, enjoying the great outdoors, or embracing technology in new ways. As always, we would like to thank all of our clients and team members who have positively impacted our firm this year. Simon Quick in the Community

We are proud to be celebrating 10 years of fundraising through our Annual Charitable Golf Outing which in total has raised over half a million dollars for local charities. This year our (virtual) golf outing raised over $30,000 for nourish.NJ, which will support their mission of creating lasting solutions to hunger, homelessness, and poverty. We thank all of our sponsors for their contribution to such a wonderful organization in light of the current environment. We hope to see everyone on the golf course again soon!

Each year we dedicate our time to a local organization at our Annual Community Service Day. This year the pandemic prevented us from coming together as a team so we held the first ever Simon Quick Holiday Coat Drive! The coat drive runs between November 9, 2020 and January 10, 2021 with members of our team and other tenants in our office complex donating new and/or gently used coats for Jersey Cares.

The 2020 Presidential Election

The 2020 election was one of the most contentious in recent history. To help you prepare for the change in administration we created a mini-series of content that explains the impact the election has on investments and financial planning.

HOW WE Can HELP

Our (Virtual) Events

This year we were unable to come together in-person with our clients and business partners en masse as we normally do. We even had some great events planned for this year, including our annual client appreciation events and a new panel discussion series which would've seen our partners travel to four cities throughout the country. Without the ability to host in-person events this year we moved to an all-virtual event calendar, consisting of over twelve webinars.

 In March, we began hosting weekly market calls in a series we are called Weathering the Coronavirus Market Downturn. Our goal in hosting these calls was to bring our specialists to the forefront to help clients capitalize on the changes in global financial markets. All call recordings along with transcripts are available on the blog section of our website.

In addition to our Weathering the Coronavirus Market Downturn calls the Simon Quick Women's Network hosted two more light-hearted webinars. Their first webinar of the year, Making a Pandemic Pivot was a huge success. In the webinar our team was joined by JeanAnn Morgan, Principal and Chief Creative Officer of JAM Creative Communications and Founder of Women Kick Glass. Jean discussed how to understand leadership presence and the power of personal brand image, examined how we communicate our personal brand verbally and non-verbally, and discussed the branding matrix and how it applies to personal branding. The Women's Network also hosted a fun and interactive cooking experience with Leia Gaccione, chef and owner of south+pine!

The Simon Quick Women’s Network is designed to engage, educate & empower women. The mission of their initiative is to create a network of like-minded professional women who meet regularly. Their goal is to provide opportunities to learn from one another in a judgement free zone while providing meaningful education, tangible tools, & strong peer support at every event.

Their mission is to foster an environment of inclusion and promote diversity in the workplace. The committee believes that leveraging the unique perspectives and experiences of our employees will drive our team to be more comprehensive, innovative, and ultimately help us serve our clients better. The firm is committed to bringing this D&I mission to life through a holistic approach including senior leadership accountability, hiring initiatives, community engagement, and firmwide education.

A Year of Recognition

Simon Quick Advisors is pleased to announce it has been named to the 2020 edition of the Financial Times 300 Top Registered Investment Advisers. This is our fourth appearance on the FT 300 Top RIA list out of the seven years the ranking has been published “This recognition speaks to our team’s dedication and our commitment to providing an outstanding experience for our clients,” said Chief Marketing Officer Darcy O’Brien.

In the last edition of this newsletter we announced that we were named by InvestmentNews as one of the 75 Best Places to Work for Financial Advisers nationwide! Since then we have been named by NJBiz as one of the Best Places to Work in NJ in their 2020 ranking! This is the second year in a row we have made both lists, which couldn’t have been possible without our hardworking and dedicated team members.

Expanding Our Colorado Presence

Last year we announced the opening of our newest office located in Denver, Colorado. Since then Simon Quick Director and Client Advisor Brannon Fisher, has made his presence known in the Rocky Mountain region. Brannon is responsible for developing new relationships in the region as well as servicing the high-net-worth families and individuals who are already clients. We are proud of the success that Brannon has brought to the firm and the clients he serves.

This year we are pleased to announce that Simon Quick Managing Director and Client Advisor Kyle Ferrare, will be joining Brannon in Denver to continue our firm's expansion out west. Kyle joined Simon Quick in 2011, and works directly with high net worth clients in developing and implementing their investment and financial planning goals. He was named a “Principal” of the firm in January 2019, which distinguishes employees selected by the Management Committee to participate in ownership of the firm. Kyle will be our first team member to hold this title in the region and we are excited to see him continue to build our presence in the region alongside Brannon.

Our firm will have a new office location in Denver starting February 1st located in Suite 500 at 100 Fillmore Street, Denver, CO 80206. More details to follow so stay tuned!

This year the Simon Quick team may have joined our holiday party via Zoom but that doesn't mean we couldn't have plenty of fun! The Employee Experience committee hosted our first (and hopefully last) Pandemic Awards! Our team members had the opportunity to nominate their peers for six categories included in the ceremony:

• Best Virtual Backgrounds/Names Award: This employee has shared some of the most creative backgrounds/names

• The Fashionista Award: No matter the dress code, this employee takes their wardrobe to the next level

• Proud Pet Parent Award: This employee does not shy away from being a fur parent and sharing their fur baby on the camera

• Most Creative Social Event Award: This team/department has thought outside of the box to get together during the pandemic
